Shakira's Arizona visit

Today, Shakira will visit Phoenix to meet with Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon and join the fight against SB 1070. Shakira and Mayor Gordon will hold a brief press conference following a private meeting with city leaders and law enforcement officials.

Following the press conference, Shakira will meet with immigrant families and students at the CPLC Carl Hayden Youth Community Center to discuss how this new law will impact them as they pursue their American Dream.

Que pena

Tal vez tus intenciones son las mejores no lo dudo, pero pienso que si a nosotros no nos gusta que nadie se meta en nuestros asuntos internos como pais a otros les pasa lo mimo. Aca hay mucho en juego.. no solo el hecho que mucha gente no cumple con las leyes de Estados Unidos y usan "derechos humanos " como escudo para incumplir las leyes que claramente existen. Si no que tambien esta en juego la segurida del Estado de Arizona su gente y del pais, ellos tambien tienen derechos y aun mas por ser los de casa.. Los Carteles de drogas estan cada dia mas peligrosos alli y las personas que viven del otro lado de la frontera de Mexico estan realmente asustados con lo que esta pasando y con todo derecho! Es increible que tu siendo de un pais que sufre y a sufrido tanto por casi lo mismo. Te atrevas a intervenir con una ley interna que mas del 60% de nosotros estamos de acuerdo. Cantas bello, bailas maravilloso! como dicen por alli ZAPATERO A SU ZAPATO! Antes de haber saltado a conclusiones que todavia no existen.. hubieses analizado primero la ley, el sentimiento de la gente, la situacion interna de lo que realmente esta pasando. A mi parecer, ni tu ni nadie que no viva y sea de este pais tiene derecho a intervenir.. Lee las leyes de immigracion de Mexico, Colombia, Peru o cualquier otra nacion y veras que son aun mas drasticas que esta. Gracias por escuchar mi opinion que es la de la mayoria aca. Amanda68

You have really right, nobody should be excluded because of something. I could listen to you all the hole day as you represent your stuff in all your right opinion. You have to get this year's Nobel Peace Prize. I love you forever.

Leyes

Las leyes de otros paises son asunto de otros paises. Y si no nos gustan podemos opinar, pero no podemos tratar de intervenir en las legislaciones ajenas. Aqui en los Estados Unidos los governantes son muy tolerantes con las personas que estan ilegalmente. En Australia por ejemplo, es un crime estar ilegal, asi sea por una hora. Y asi en muchos paises, hasta en Colombia. No estar de acuerdo con algo es una cosa, pero meterse en lo que no le importa. Lo que se tiene es que promover ayuda a los paises donde la gente vive tan mal, que deciden venir asi sea ilegalmente a otro pais. Es triste, pero detras de la ilegalidad hay muchas cosas negativas tambien.

Disappointed

I have always been a great fan of Shakira's music; however she is not an American citizen and her input in this issue is not warranted or needed! It is a simple issue. The FEDERAL law says that it is illegal to be here without proper documentation. Anyone doing so is breaking the law already! Arizona is just taking a stand against what has become a takeover of our country by ILLEGAL immigrants. This country was established by immigrants from all over the world and millions of people continue to immigrate here; however those people have done so LEGALLY and respect that our laws are put in place to protect our country and its citizens. I can appreciate that Shakira is philanthropic and cares about helping the world, but this is NOT her fight and she needs to stay out of it! She makes millions of dollars in sales from the U.S., but that does not give her the right to get involved in this! I am just very sad and disappointed and will never purchase her music again!

Una de las enseñanzas mas importantes que dejo la caida del Muro de Berlin es la necesidad que tienen los pueblos de unirse, no de fragmentarse. Por desgracia, algunos politicos no entendieron el mensaje. Gracias Shakira por apostar por una causa que va mas alla de la defensa de los inmigrantes, pues es un grito en favor de los derechos de las personas.
